Evan Banner

Hey Ward 12,

As we reach the end of January, I trust everyone has adjusted back into routine and that you also carry optimism for the year ahead. Starting in 2023, I will be prioritizing opportunities for me to interact with the Ward face-to-face. My “why” has always been community, so I look forward to connecting and reconnecting with those of you that come out for a coffee and other engagement opportunities. I have enjoyed stepping back into some of my old community routines since the pandemic and acclimating to elected public service, including joining my local Learn 2 Skate program as a volunteer again. With a new year comes plenty of new opportunities and I encourage you to consider your local Community Association as a place to invest in the year ahead. They have direct access to City employees and are powerful platforms to enact local change. See you in your hood soon!

On January 4th, Property Assessment Notices were mailed out by The City of Calgary. Overall, as a city, more than 565,000 Assessment Notices were compiled and sent out, based on their value on July 1st of last year. We’re inviting Calgarians to share their thoughts on recreational vehicle parking on the front driveways of residential properties. You have until Feb 13, 2023, to share feedback on the duration, benefits and impacts of residential RV parking restrictions, to help inform potential bylaw amendments in 2023. Under the current bylaw, if an RV is parked on the front of the property, it must be on a hard-surfaced driveway or parking stall and cannot be parked for more than 36 consecutive hours. To review the bylaw and to provide your input visit calgary.ca/RVparking.

We know this has been a long time coming! The signal light at Seton Blvd and 52nd Street will be completed and working this Spring!

There have been some ongoing problems with supply chain issues and shortages, but our office has been following this conversation closely and continue to push for the completion of this project. We are very excited to have heard that this will be happening soon, once paint trucks are back in operation to finalize the road markings.
