New Year, New BeginningsHello,
As we gear up for another year of hard work and dedication, I also reflect back on how much the world has changed since 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic took hold around the world. While many changes have shifted the way Calgarians gather publicly, venture back into workspaces, and celebrate holiday traditions to adjust to public health best practices as well as to be more considerate of climate responsibility, it is also reassuring to see communities and people confidently gathering together again within their neighbourhoods.
Speaking of events, it has been a pleasure to help ring in the Lunar New Year with the Chinatown Community this past month and I've had snow much fun kicking off the first week of Chinook Blast! From January 27 – February 12, 2023, Chinook Blast warms up our city with a celebration of community, culture, and civic pride. Check out the full list of free events HERE.
With a fresh year ahead I endeavor to continue open communication channels and be more connected than ever through the Ward 7 Council of Communities. In these uncertain times, it is now more important than ever to strengthen community connections. If you have thoughts or ideas you'd like to share with me, you can always reach out to my office at ward7@calgary.ca.
Sincerely, Ward 7 Councillor Terry Wong (He/Him)

Heritage Incentives Area Engagement Phase 2
We have heard concerns from Calgarians about the rapid pace that heritage assets are being replaced by new development in established communities each year. To help address this issue, we are exploring new ways to encourage property owners to keep identified heritage assets (sometimes called character homes). More information HERE. |
