Property assessment notices were mailed on Jan. 4th. We hope you’ve reviewed it by checking that the information on your notice is accurate and the property value reflects the value you think that your home would have sold for if you sold it on July 1 last year. But what did you do with your notice after your review? Did you toss it? Put it into your junk drawer? Or did you file it immediately? When it comes to your annual property assessment notice, Go Paperless to help save time, save trees and save tax dollars. And, to help encourage you to do so, we are offering you a chance to win one of 12 Visa gift cards valued at $250 each. Entry details are available at calgary.ca/gopaperless.

The City’s SE Odour Investigation has been ongoing throughout the winter months and concluded the air dispersion modelling to determine the likely sources of the odours. They have now gathered the pertinent information to move on to Task 4 – Mitigation Recommendations. No single source stands out as the cause of the odours we are experiencing so Task 4 will focus on providing recommendations for mitigating all identified potential sources to reduce the impact of odours on SE Calgary residents. Police warn of distraction thefts and seek multiple suspects

CPS are asking Calgarians to be vigilant following a recent string of distraction thefts, including at least one incident that occurred at South Trail Crossing.

From late January to early February 2023, 12 distraction theft cases with many similarities have been reported to police from around the city. They believe two to four suspects are working in tandem to steal financial information by targeting vulnerable victims shopping at major retail chains. In each case, the victims made a purchase using their debit or credit card and were approached by an unknown man while attempting to exit the premises or in the parking lot. READ MORE

On December 1, 2022, Iconic Power Systems became the sole provider of The City’s street light maintenance services. At that time, Iconic Power replaced Enmax Power Systems Corporation (EPSC) as the street light maintenance and service provider, who had performed this work on behalf of the City for over 130 years.

The 2022 maintenance and service provider transition, as well as the ongoing supply chain disruptions, increased the average response time for street light repair to 34 days. For reference, the 2018 average response time was 22 days. We anticipate that this response time will gradually come back down to the 2018 levels as the new service provider gains experience with our infrastructure, and as they work through the backlog of service requests that accumulated through the transition process.

Citizens can report outages to 311 directly via the “Street Light Maintenance” service request or via the Street Light Outage Map
