WHAT'S NEW?

Ward 10 Parks

Ward 10 is excited to welcome three new recreational amenities this year:

🥏 Disc golf course in Vista Heights

🥏 Disc golf course at Max Bell

🤼 Kabaddi sport field in Horizon

 

Plus installation of general park amenities like benches and picnic tables across the City!

Sport Hub

Following its successful pilot in 2017-2020, this free and low-cost sports program for youth will roll out in phases this spring and summer. 

 

Ward 10 communities prioritized in the first phases include Abbeydale and Mayland Heights. A broader launch is planned for this fall. 

 

Registration for spring and summer programs open on May 13.

PROPERTY TAX BILLS

Property tax bills will be mailed out on May 14.

The City’s Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) is the most popular payment method with smaller monthly instalments. To access TIPP Online, go to calgary.ca/TIPP

DRAINAGE REHABILITATION - 8 AVE NE BRIDGE

The City is undertaking drainage rehabilitation work at the east end of the 8th Avenue NE Bridge over Deerfoot Trail, with substantial completion expected by the end of May. 

 

To accomodate minor road modifications and erosion repairs: 

🚧 Single lane closures on 8th Ave NE between 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

 👷 Construction crews on site daily from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM 

 

Thank you for your patience during this important maintenance work. 

COMMUNITY CLEAN UPS 

Community Clean-Up events provide a free and convenient way for Calgarians to dispose of items that don't fit in their waste or recycling carts. By bringing trucks and crew directly to your neighbourhood, these events save you a trip to the landfill and help keep our community clean.

NEIGHBOUR DAY MICROGRANT AND EVENTS

Apply by May 31 for a microgrant of up to $2,500 to host a Neighbour Day event in your community on Saturday, June 21! 

 

This annual event encourages Calgarians to connect with their neighbours through block parties, backyard BBQs, and community gatherings. 

 

Alongside neighbourhood celebrations, Sport Calgary’s All Sport One Day will offer children a free opportunity to try a new sport, while collecting donations of used sports equipment.

The City is designing the proposed extension to 88th Ave NE and 60th St NE, which will also provide a future connection to the airport and further development in nearby communities.

🏘️ CITY BUILDING PROGRAM

 

Summary:

Share your experiences and ideas about how zoning shapes our City in Phase 5 engagement for the Zoning Bylaw. 

 

This bylaw will regulate how and where buildings are developed throughout the city.
