WATER MAIN BREAK UPDATES

Thank you all for your tremendous water conservation efforts and for reaching out to my office with your ideas and concerns. This unexpected water main break has undoubtedly dominated our daily lives and local news.

The City has made significant progress in addressing this crisis, and we are slowly being relieved from the Stage 4 Water Restrictions.

Announced yesterday, we may resume normal indoor water use. However, it is important to note that the outdoor water restrictions and the fire ban remain in effect.

While we've overcome a significant hurdle, we ask for your continued cooperation with the outdoor water restrictions as the City crews work towards fully resolving this issue.

For the most up-to-date information, including a chronological list of all work completed, starting from the initial incident to the present, visit calgary.ca/emergencies/critical-water-main-break-june-2024/water-main-break-updates

This page provides comprehensive details on all the repair progresses.

We are nearing the last step to restoring full water service, the image below shows how this is done. We are currently on Step 4!

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Construction season is in full force! Let's take a look at some of the highlighted projects that will be happening near you:

This year, you will see a significant amount of paving rehabilitation projects in Whitehorn. This will improve the safety of motorists and prevent costly reconstruction costs in the future.

There are also a number of safety improvements, including: installation of pedestrian crossing flashing beacons, pathway projects, curb extensions and roadway turn widening. These improvements target pedestrian safety and encourage safe driving,

32 Ave NE Pavement Rehabilitation

Early July, a major paving project will be tentatively starting on 32 Ave between Barlow Trail and Deerfoot.

Traffic and pedestrian detours will be in place - please note that there may be impacts to your commute, as well as some construction noise and vibration in the area. Efforts will be made to minimize all possible disruption. Please visit calgarytransit.com for information on impacted bus routes.

Completion date is expected mid-August, however, all work is weather-dependent and scheduled dates are subject to change. Project updates will be available on calgary.ca/paving

Find real-time information on road disruptions by visiting calgary.ca/trafficinfo, or tune in to 107.9FM for Calgary's dedicated Traffic Advisory radio station.

Check out calgary.ca/mobilityprograms for an interactive map of all the planned projects for 2024.
