As of today, repair work has started on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main along 33rd Ave NW between 81 St and 85 St. The construction at each repair location is expected to take approximately 12-14 days. At the beginning of the week, road closures and construction fencing on 33 Ave N.W. began, and four work zones were initiated. After the completion of work at the first four locations, crews will move to the remaining four work zones. Additionally, work will commence at Shouldice Park on Aug 30, while the repairs on 16 Ave East of 46 St are scheduled to start after the September long weekend.
33 Avenue N.W. will be closed in sections between 78 Street N.W. and 87 Street N.W.
to enable crews to stage equipment, supplies and make the necessary repairs to 13
areas along the feeder main. However, 16 Ave NW and 83rd St remain open.
On-street parking between 81 St and 85 St is not allowed, with the acceptation of two designated accessible parking stalls.
Residents living near construction sites should anticipate significant disturbances, including ongoing noise, dust, and bright lights commonly associated with construction. Construction machinery will operate around the clock, with dust and lighting essential for crew visibility. To address these impacts, the City is offering solutions such as noise machines, earplugs, or other measures to mitigate noise, and may also arrange temporary relocation to a hotel for affected residents. If you or someone you know may require assistance due to the construction, please contact the Ward 1 Office for further information.
The City has also placed a temporary parking lot at 34 Ave N.W. and 86 St. N.W for affected residents. It first come, first served, and a permit is required.
- Permits will be provided to those with both driveway and street parking impacts on 33 Ave. N.W. as identified on the construction map.
- Two permits will be provided per household.
- Temporary lot parking is limited, and parking will be on a first come first serve basis; parking permits do not ensure a parking space will be available.
- Permitted parking at this lot will go into effect Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Permits will be delivered to the households with both driveway and street parking impacts by City of Calgary teams by the end of the day today, Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
If you do not meet the stated criteria for permitted parking but are a resident in the immediate project area with an extenuating circumstance that would benefit from consistent parking support, please contact: CBR@calgary.ca.
